Jessica Simpson Looks Great Despite Weight

by Asher Ricard

It has been all over the news, the internet and even at the grocery store checkout. Jessica Simpson gained weight. Oh my goodness, did we stop the presses for this headline?

It is shocking to me the scrutiny celebs live under. Does the American public really care if Simpson gains weight? Do we care if Brittany has thunder thighs while hiding in a bikini on a beach?

It is funny to me. I think the media was shocked because for a first in the celeb world,  someone looked normal. Don't get me wrong, Simpson still had the knocked out golden locks and eyes that seem to melt fans, but her body is no longer a stick.

Is that acceptable? Seriously, the media thinks they have the right to judge when most likely there is a reason they are behind the camera or computer. Why do they think they even have the right to decide the size of a certain celeb.

Now rumors are running rampant that Simpson is headed down the same road and other celebs before her because of a bad night at a recent concert. Any real woman knows what Simpson is dealing with during this time could lead to any person having a bad day at their job.

Can you imagine? What would it be like to have your body under a microscope 24/7? Would it not be an easy step to self doubt and esteem issues? How sad has our society become that we are so busy degrading those with talent because they put on a few pounds?

When did the status of women change so drastically that a woman can not even look normal without ridicule? I, for one, am ready for the old days of skinning women being a sign of poverty to come back. When did looking like an unhealthy twig become the look that all women aspire to become.

I am proud of Simpson! The media should back off and let her talent and true image come forth. Gaining pounds doesn't make her a different person. In fact, it makes her more of a real  and honest person.

Go Jessica-don't let them get to you!
