Jade Goody has died aged 27 today, Mothering Sunday, how ironic.
Jade Goody famous for being on Big Brother, featuring in various other reality shows and hitting the headlines in race scandals and much more has lost her fight with cervical cancer today and died at home in her sleep with her mother and husband beside her.
Fans were paying tribute to Jade Goody within moments of hearing the news of her death and laid flowers at the gates of her home.
Jade Goody's mum Jackie told reporters that the family asked for privacy 'at last'.
The last few weeks of Jade Goody's life have been a rollercoaster of media attention, with Jade fitting in as much as she could into her last few weeks in order to raise money for her sons and also to raise awareness of cervical cancer and the need to have regular smears.
In the UK smear testing for cervical cancer starts at age 25, but there are now calls to lower this age to 21.
Back in the 80's testing for smears began as soon as a woman went on the pill or became sexually active (after the age of 18) but this changed when medical professionals declared there was little value in early testing as the cells on the cervic of young women changed periodically with little fear of cancer developing.
There is now a HPV vaccination to eliminate the chance of cervical cancer all together as HPV is the virus believed to cause cervical cancer in the first place.
May Jade Goody now find peace and condolences to her family.

CB, this is so strange that you sould write an article about this right after I just saw here the other day on the news. How ironic is this. I, like you, keep my fingers on the pulse of celebrities around the globe, and of course this was of interest to me. I am sadden to hear that she had lost her battle with cancer, and I feel much saddness for the two sons she left behind. My her soul rest in peace, and I am grateful that she will suffer no more.....Great article, informative and good awareness for this type of cancer...Great Read, Your pal, and fan, and friend in pen.......Gary

The death of Jade Goody was indeed very sad, particularly as she had two young children that still need her. Cancer is a terrible disease and I lost my own brother to it a few years back sadly.Jade seems to have done a great job in creating awareness to cervical cancer in women and I hope more women will opt to take regular screening to prevent cervical cancer.Kirk SmithRespond to this comment
