God Save the Queen from Big Brother
by Connor DavidsonMy Books and Articles (under construction)
Great Britain has given the world some of the greatest minds ever. Consider this: James Watt, Alexander Fleming, William Shakespeare, Sir Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawkins, Edmond Haley, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Charles Darwin, George Stephenson, Charles Babbage, Joseph Wilson Swan and, Jade Goody. Our great nation has given the world a lot, but all that is now overshadowed by Big Brother. We may have made the world a better place with TV, electric lighting, steam, gravity and computers. But we have just ruined it with Big Brother.
As you have probably worked out I dislike Big (Bad) Brother on a good day. I simply don’t see the point. What is so good about a bunch of fame hungry people in a house bored to tears with a great big “god in the sky” prodding them occasionally. My vegetables are more interesting...
My Vegetables try to grow bigger – like contestants - than the others; the vegetables - having no emotions - can’t be bored, so are more exciting and I occasionally prod them. What’s the difference?
I have got it! They are in it for the money. None of them are going to get a million on who wants to be a millionaire and nor will they win the Nobel Prize, so this is how they can make money.
Out of everything about Big Brother the most annoying thing is MY FAMILY WATCH IT! If they hadn’t I would have lived my life blissfully oblivious to the sad reality that is Big Brother – I found out only last week who Angelina Jolie was!
So could someone tell me honestly why the government should not bring in a law called the “preservation of human sanity and intelligence act” that gets rid of Big Brother? I have had enough of reality TV and would like some proper news in newspapers and on TV none of this who got off with who in the “house”.
This is my opinion and I know lots of people will disagree. So tell me your thoughts…

Do you know, I've never watched Big Brother, only heard about it in passing when people talk about it. I don't know what it is like to watch and for some reason I don't have the slightest sense of curiosity about it. There has been a lot in the paper about Jade Goody, and although I don't know her I feel she did try to do something that would help others before she died and that is to be admired. Just like anyone who brings important issues to the public especially if they and their families are suffering themselves. An interesting article Connor.ElfredaRespond to this comment

You lucky so and so...
I wish I had never watched Big Brother.
Jade did do a lot before she died I was showing that nowadays to be famous you do not have to be super smart.
Thanks for the comment.

Your comment on being famous and being smart. We must keep in mind that there are a number of ways to show intelligence. Sometimes those people with Doctorates, not all of course by any means, can demonstrate a great deal of common sense. Common sense, I would argue is a form of intelligence. Intelligence is not only reserved for intellectuals. Jade must have have been intelligent in her own way to push herself to fame and to use her common sense to secure a life for her family while in the throws of her illness. We mustn't be decieved by surface impressions.
