Angels & Demons Film review - not true to the book

I recently saw Angels and Demons the new film based on Dan Brown's novel.

I enjoyed the film though others I attended with enjoyed it much less and for the following reasons.

Those that have read Angels and Demons the book will instantly see that the film has changed various elements. This re-writing of the basic elements frustrated the die hard fans of the book.

Those that hadn't read the book had trouble following the story and the finale wasn't so much a twist as a disappointing and hurried end to a mystery that the audience had no chance of solving as none of the clues led up that conclusion.

I was somewhere between the two.

I had begun to read the book and had an understanding of the illuminati and various other elements before I saw the film. I was thus a little disappointed at the start that the elements I'd enjoyed in the book were altered in the film but otherwise I was able to keep up with the twists and turns and the plot line.

All in all though, the film wasn't 'great' and after being informed of other essential differences between the book and the film, can conclude that had the producers kept to the original storyline, it would have had much more impact, drama and appeal.

I rate this film 7/10.

I won't disclose details of Angels and Demons the film here incase you want to see it and haven't read the book. If you have read the book, don't expect it to be identical, as it's not and some scenes which played out beautifully in your mind as you read, don't exist at all.

Hi Leah, you are spot on with your review. I have read the book and there was a whole heap of plot missing from the film. SC

Greenwich has travelled light years from that sorry past but at least in the perception of some people, Darien has not. ,

At first sight one is puzzled, because the threshold to be overcome seems to be the same in both cases. ,
