In my fashion In my fashion
by The Pirate of Soleas Port(1)
In my fashion If I could be what ever if my choice I’d only want to be someone very old And someone very good. A modest man who was wise and learned Someone who gave care to fine things made of wood. My hat and shoes would be old and full of memories Although they would probably be somewhat worn I would hold my head up and ware them with dignity And take the time to mend them where they were torn And in my days of autumn I would collect brown leaves of maple In a basket they would sit a top the mantle just over the fire Surely I would read a page or two maybe a hint of brandy And then I suppose for the night I would retire And in my days of winter my old trusted friend and I would take to a hunt just amongst the hilly trails I would take aim and he would fetch us a rabbit, two fine gents such as us, supper in hand Surely we had prevailed. And in my days of solitude on the sea shore I would set my thoughts adrift And old man who was once a young sailor had vowed his life to the sea and his love to his ship All seven I have sailed, no shores of port have my feet not touched Yes in my fashion I would have done all of this, for in my fashion all of this I would have loved so much.

The old man and the sea is a timeless theme. Hemmingway expounded it. Very Good.Respond to this comment
