Here’s Some Basic Information On Hydralisks

Hydralisks are a big creature that has a ranged and melee attack (both do the same,) and they can be created after you have a Hydralisk Den.

What Hydralisks Are Good Against

You should use Hydralisks against a number of units, particularly Mutalisks, Banshees, and you can use them together, in mass, to defeat a number of combinations. They can really take over Void Rays when you use a lot of them, and bundling them with Roaches can really offer you a secure defense.

Hydralisk Counters

If you’re massing Hydralisks then the last thing you want to see are Siege Tanks / Hellions, or Colossus + Zealots from the Protoss. These will really put a dent in your defense or offense that you’ve made up with Hydralisks.

Hydralisk Build Orders

Begin by making mass Drones until you reach around 9/10 Supply. Then you should pump out an Overlord and continue making Drones until you reach 13 or 14 Supply. At this point you should begin building a Spawning Pool and start collecting gas with the Drone that’s after the Spawning Pool. Put around 3 Drones on gas and continue to make Overlords when you need to, but don’t over-produce them.

After you have 3 Drones on gas you should make a Queen, and create a few Zerglings as well. Then you should morph into a lair as soon as you can, and after you’ve hit the Lair research you should build a Hydralisk Den.

Keep on building Drones and while researching your Lair you can continue to expand by building a new hatchery. Either way, once you hit the Lair and after you’ve made the Hydrailsk Den you can start popping out your Hydralisks.

Hydralisk Rush

The best way to Hydralisk rush is to use them effectively by micromanaging their ranged attack, and using Roaches or Zerglings to take the bunt of the damage.

You should definitely think about moving them towards your enemy’s resource line, and then use them to snipe out their harvesters while sending your Zerglings all over them. If you let your Zerglings, Roaches, or Banelings take their attention, you can easily let your Hydralisks take them out and shoot them up before they react to them.
