If watching Chelsea Handler on her E! late-night show Chelsea Lately isn't enough of the best-selling author and comedienne for you, you're in luck. Monsters and Critics reports that Handler's latest tour, dubbed the Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me Tour, will kick off in Boston, Massachusetts on May 10. Fans with Chelsea Handler tickets will also be treated to comedy by Chelsea Lately round table regulars Brad Wollack, Josh Wolf and Heather McDonald, who will join Chelsea on tour.
Chelsea Handler's batch of new tour dates follows her 2010 Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang Tour. The sold-out 2010 trek, which was in support of her third book of the same name, was extended three times. Handler's 2010 tour drew more than 250,000 fans in 44 markets and grossed over $16 million, reports Monsters and Critics. On her upcoming tour, Handler will stop in cities like Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Los Angeles, CA; Oakland, CA; New York, NY; Las Vegas, NV; Detroit, MI; Washington, DC; Kansas City, MO; Portland, OR and more.
Handler's upcoming tour is also named after a book. Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me, Handler's fourth book, will arrive on May 10 and is her first book with her own imprint, Borderline Amazing/A Chelsea Handler Book (a division of Grand Central Publishing). Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me is a collection of stories by Handler's friends and family about the various outrageous lies she has told them over the year. The book follows in the hilarious footsteps of Handler's previous books: 2005's My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands (Bloomsbury), 2008's Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea (Simon Spotlight) and 2009's Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang.
Like its predecessor, Handler's upcoming tour will be sponsored by Belvedere Vodka. Handler showed the vodka company some love by celebrating the launch of Belvedere (RED) on Feb. 10, reports UsMagazine.com. Handler and BFF Jenny McCarthy joined Kings of Leon's Jared Followill and actor Matt Dallas at the launch event, which was held at Hollywood hotspot Avalon, which also featured a performance by Usher. Chuy, Handler's "assistant" on E!'s Chelsea Lately was also on hand for the bash.
In other Chelsea Handler news, her best-selling book Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea is posed to become an NBC sitcom. E! News reports that the pilot version of NBC's adaptation of Are You There, Vodka? It's Me Chelsea will see the late-night host being played by actress Laura Prepon (best known for starring in That '70s Show). Speaking about Prepon playing her to E! News, Handler said, "Besides both of us being the youngest of big families, both being from New Jersey, and both of us coming from multiple religious backgrounds, she's salty and sexy. She's got the right attitude, and as far as we know, she's not pregnant."
The possible series will focus on the lives of a group of 20-somethings who live and work with Handler (played by Prepon), reports Entertainment Weekly. Although Handler will not appear in the show, she will executive produce the multi-camera comedy along with Mike Clements, Tom Werner and Tom Brunele.
