Out The Window Advertising
Advertising is an important component of any business. How else would you expect to succeed if nobody has ever heard of your business? Since it is understood that business need to advertise to succeed and gain faithful consumers, the next question to ask is who is your target audience?
Once you figure this out, you have to figure out how to best reach them. You must figure out where they hang out; what they are interested in; and what they respond to. After understanding these essential things, you can then begin to explore options for effectively advertising your business.
Some claim there are sure-fire ways to gain business if you follow this step and that. The fact is that there is no one-size-fits-all guarantee. There are many ways to approach advertising that can work successfully for one company but not another. Knowing the answers to the questions stated above will better direct you toward the best methods for your advertising ventures. When deciding how to advertise, another idea is to contact businesses in the same industry and ask for any advertising advice or if they’ve noticed more success in one method over another. Bill Hagen at Out The Window Advertising knows the value of using these and other essential advertising tools.
Here is a list of advertising methods companies utilize to help you begin to think about the different opportunities available:
- Direct mail – This is mail that is sent directly to a mailing list (which you can build from current and desired customers) in the form of flyers, brochures, and postcards.
- Magazines – Though magazine ads can be quite expensive, they can also be quite effective when placed in magazines that are relevant to your industry.
- Newsletters – This can be a wonderful way to convey the nature of your business.
- Newspapers – Newspapers are read every day by many, both online and in print.
- Posters and bulletin boards – A powerful venue that works best when placed within a setting where your target market frequents.
- Radio – This is a great advertising strategy that is less expensive than television ads. Just be sure to consider the audience of the radio station and when your market would be listening to the radio.
- Television – Though this type of advertising can be expensive, it can also be very powerful. You want to consider the same things as you would with a radio advertisement.
- Internet – This type of advertising is broad, generally cheap or free and loaded with potential. A business can pay for advertisements on websites (be sure to research a website to see if the people who frequent those pages are your target market), send e-mail blasts, participate in online discussions and forums, create a blog, and engage in social media activities.
- There are also a number of promotional activities a business can take part of, such as writing articles or editorials, creating press kits, annual reports, networking, and holding special events and offers.
It is important to research and evaluate the potential for what each of these methods hold for your company. Internet advertising may be the easiest to do this, as websites will often provide you their statistics. These statistics show keywords people coming to the site are searching for, how much traffic they get and what pages are most frequented. This will give you insight into whether the audience on these sites is who you are marketing to. You can also research television and radio ratings and statistics as well as see who has subscriptions to certain newspapers and magazines. If the statistics with a particular site, network, or station do not hit your target market, it is better to look into alternative methods of advertising. At Out The Window Advertising they believe in a well-rounded approach to advertising.
Diversity and creativity in advertising is a great for business, but it must be done with strategy behind it. Define your target audience first. Discover where they look, read, play or hang out. After you’ve done the research, create an awesome advertising campaign and get your company in front of them.
