One easy costume idea for a young girl dancer would be a ladybug. You can find everything you need online to make this adorable costume. There's no sewing involved for the ladybug, just some arts and crafts to top it off. First you'll need to know the sizes of the tutus, tights and leotards. Once you've established these, you can start browsing the Dance Clothes UK website for the clothing part of the costume. To begin the lady bug tutu costume, you'll need a leotard. You can choose a leotard with tutu skirt over it or a one-piece leotard with an attached tutu. Either way, you'll want to choose red. Another option is to choose a red leotard and black tutu skirt, since these come as two separate pieces.
A tutu tops off the outfit and makes it look feminine and stylish. After you've selected the main parts of the ladybug costume, you can move onto the accessories. The Dance Clothes UK website offers black tights to match your costume. You can also shop for a matching headband to hold the antennae. Opt for a red or black headband to match the color scheme. Once you've found your leotard and tutu skirt (or tutu one piece), tights and headband, you're ready to put together an adorable ladybug costume. To finish the costume, you can add some details to top off the ladybug look. You'll need black construction paper, double sided tape, two 1-inch foam craft balls, black pipe cleaner and black paint. Take the construction paper and cut two to three inch circles to add to the leotard for the ladybug's spots. You can add as many as you'd like to cover the back and front of the leotard top. Use the double-sided tape to stick them firmly to the leotard. By using double-sided tape, you won't ruin the leotard for future use.
Finally, you'll need to take the 1-inch craft foam balls and paint them black. (Be sure to use the correct paint, as some paints will damage foam materials.) Allow the painted pieces to dry and then insert a pipe cleaner into each ball. These balls will make the antennae. Attach them to the headband with glue or by wrapping the pipe cleaner around the headband. By choosing to wrap the pipe cleaner, you'll be able to reuse the headband for other costumes. After following the following steps, your ladybug costume will be complete!
