Bodybuilding Grandma Shares How She Stays In Shape And Just How Long She’ll Keep Competing


A 75-year-old retired grandma is out making impressive strides in the fitness world. Taking on bodybuilding competitions at a late age, the woman is now Australia’s oldest bodybuilder. Sticking to good nutrition and rigorous training, she’s developed a pretty ripped body that you won’t believe!

Janice Lorraine from Granville, Sydney, began bodybuilding at the age of 55. At the time, she had just retired and wanted to keep herself busy. She also saw an older woman struggling to walk and decided that she didn’t want to end up that way. She started going to the gym and started weight resistance training. She also decided that she would become a natural bodybuilder, but the goal would take a lot of work.

Leveling Up

Though she took on bodybuilding later in life, Janice soon proved that she was a force to be reckoned with. For the first 15 months of her journey, the grandmother trained intensely before she competed in her very first competition in 1999. Since then, she’s participated in many competitions, and won an incredible 23 titles! Her success, however, is partly due to her discipline in the kitchen.

Eating Clean

Janice remains on a strict diet regardless if she’s planning to compete or not. Her nutrition plan consists of what she calls “natural nude food,” or foods without any condiments or sauces. Janice completely stays away from processed food, opting instead for salads, grilled chicken, fish, or steak. A special treat might be one small cookie or a square of sugar-free chocolate, along with a glass of wine in the evening. In addition to a regimented diet, Janice also keeps a consistent and tough workout routine to keep her body fit.

Working It Out

This tough bodybuilder works out a good six times a week. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, she heads up to the gym to weight train, keeping those muscles of hers in shape. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, she does a five-mile walk, adding in pushups, leg raises, and other arm and ab exercises. Needless to say, Janice doesn’t let her age get in the way from staying in shape!

Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number

Janice plans to keep competing until the end of 2019, when she’s 77. However, she doesn’t plan to stop sculpting her body and staying fit. “I’ll keep going until I no longer want to. I’m out to make a statement,” she admitted in an interview. “I’m trying to change people’s perception of what a 70-something-year-old should be.” Keep it up, Janice!
