College Student Brings Cow Along For ‘Udderly’ Unique Graduation Photo Shoot

Imagine walking on your college campus and seeing a cow roaming the quad! Well, one graduating student managed to bring one to school for a special occasion he’ll never forget.

An Incredible Photobomb

Massimo Montalbano was an animal science major at the University of Missouri. After four years, he was ready to finally cross the stage. Massimo celebrated the moment with a graduation photo shoot featuring one very special friend.

The student decided to have a cow named Amelia pose with him in his photos. Massimo worked with the cow and others at the university’s Foremost Dairy Research Center throughout his college tenure. “I bonded with all of [the cows], and she’s one of my favorites,” he admitted.

Making It Happen

To get Amelia to campus definitely took a little work. The research center was a few miles away from the university. However, Massimo had developed such a great bond with her that he was determined to get her to the shoot.

The student talked to the university’s vice provost, Jim Spain, to get permission to bring Amelia to campus. With the dairy research center close by, it wasn’t the first time that a student has asked the provost to bring a cow on campus. “We’ve had a number of students over the years who have had an interest in dairy who have had photos taken with cows on the quad,” Provost Spain said. He reached out to the operations department who eventually granted Amelia’s trip to campus.

Dairy Dreams

While at the university, Amelia definitely made a splash. Students and campus visitors stared in awe that a cow was actually on campus! Some even commented on how clean Amelia looked with Massimo admitting that he gave her a nice bath beforehand. He was glad to celebrate his special moment with this great animal.

As for post-grad plans, Massimo has already snagged a job after graduation. He’ll continue to work in the dairy industry at Grasslands Dairy near Monett, Missouri. where he’ll continue to work with cows on a daily basis.
