Daughter Retakes Parents Wedding Photos After Losing the Originals in Fire
Jennifer and Timothy Bing only has only one wedding photo to remember their wedding day with. Thirty-eight years ago, the young couple sent their wedding photos to a pharmacy for developing. Sadly, the pharmacy caught fire and all their photos were perished.
“They don’t have any wedding photos of their day except for a candid image taken by my mom’s cousin,” shared Ashleigh Bing, the couple’s 38-year old daughter in an interview with Today.
Ashleigh is a photographer by profession and she got the idea of retaking her parents’ wedding pictures after meeting one client who wanted their bridal formals reshot when the original photos from another photographer came out below the client’s standards.
“My own parents don’t have wedding photos so why wouldn’t I do that for them?” remarked Ashleigh.
The plan was to surprise Ashleigh’s parents with the photoshoot. She planned everything to ensure that everything would be perfect for the day.
“I didn’t tell them anything other than they needed to be available June 17th,” said Ashleigh.
Apart from renting dresses for her mom and buying the couple a pair of matching Converse Chuck Taylor shoes, Ashleigh also asked some of her friends in the wedding business to help out and make the surprise a success.
The photo session took place at the Washington National Cathedral and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
When asked about the special day, Jennifer shared that: “It was a very, very special day. It was a day that gave me back some of what I lost.”
Jennifer and Timothy may not be the young couple they were before but the pictures taken by their talented daughter captured the more than three decades of love, commitment and devotion of the pair have for each other.
“If I had to sum it up in one word it would be ‘awesome’. It brought back memories and made me realize the love I feel for my wife,” shared Timothy.
