Hairdo DIY: Achieve Effortless-Looking Curls With This Easy Styling Trick
Let’s face it, ladies. Styling isn’t always easy. Women have to put in a lot of work to achieve even an “effortless” look. Fortunately, we’ve got a tip for women searching for a way to easily accomplish lived-in curls without having to buy any extra styling tools or products.
Curls Gone Rogue
We’ve all been there. Whipping out the curling iron, expecting effortless, relaxed curls. Then, you have to look like a pageant queen or poodle (or both) for a few hours before your hair begins to relax into the curls you’ve desired all along.
Luckily, you no longer have to wait for those perfect curls. Here’s how it’s done.
The Two-Inch Trick
Grab a hairbrush and your favorite curling tool. First, divide your hair into groups about one or two inches thick, depending on your hair thickness and curl preference. For those who are using a curling wand or iron, wrap the sections of hair around it and leave about two inches off the end. Leaving two inches off is key. We’ll tell you why in a moment.
If you like to use curlers, begin wrapping the hair two inches from the bottom, leaving a little tail sticking out. Curl as you normally would, while leaving that two-inch tail straight.
OK, now onto why those two inches really matter. Often times, women tend to curl their hair from the tip all the way to their roots. But, if you leave the bottom two inches straight, your curls will achieve a much nicer, more relaxed look.
