Law Student Saves Graduation Day By Dressing Up As Spider-Man
Graduation day is the highlight of any student’s life, but the actual ceremony can be a little boring. One law student decided to liven up the occasion with a costume change that had lots of people talking!
Law Of The Land
22-year-old Hiram Yahir Salas Romero was a student at The Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez in northern Mexico. He had worked hard as a law student and was finally getting ready to cross the stage. As graduation day approached, he was excited to get his degree.
However, Hiram knew that the actual ceremony would be a little dull. The university even required a strict dress code for all graduating students. They had to wear dark suits, white shirts and shoes when accepting their degrees. Ready to go out with one last hurrah, Hiram planned to do something that would bring a little excitement to the day.
Spidey To The Rescue
Before the ceremony began, Hiram managed to change his clothes. He went from the typical suit into a Spider-Man costume, wearing everything but the mask. He managed to hide the costume under his graduation gown…until right before he received his degree.
As his name was called, Hiram shed the gown and revealed his big surprise. He even shook some of his professors’ hands, as they looked at him unhappily. “I don’t remember if the Rector said anything, but I think I got a smile out of him,” Hiram said in an interview.
Others in the audience found the costume funny and refreshing. In fact, when the Master of Ceremonies reminded the audience of the ‘solemnity’ of the occasion, he was booed for putting a damper on the fun. A few of Hiram’s classmates were also not happy about the stunt. One said that it was “immature,” while another said that he had “stolen the limelight from the other students.”
Hiram, however, doesn’t regret the idea. The graduate chose Spider-Man because the superhero was “human with problems but also with the desire to help people with his special powers and intellect,” just like Hiram. He also wanted to show that not all law students are stiff and boring.
