McConaughey Spends 48th Birthday Handing Out Free Turkeys

Award winning Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey spent his 48th birthday handing out a total of 4,500 turkeys to residents of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The Oscar winner who celebrated his birthday last Nov. 4 spent his time personally distributing the meat before this year’s Thanksgiving Day.

His efforts were in partnership with the town’s Wild Turkey Distillery which he represents as the spokesman. The company has a charitable initiative entitled Wild Turkey Gives Back which aims to spread cheers during the holidays.

Working with a team of volunteers, the actor surprised families in the area personally delivering the frozen birds. According to Delish, McConaughey is also the creative director of the company and has a charitable foundation named Just Keep Livin’.

The actor shared the video on his Facebook account going Live before the company speech whispering into the camera saying, “250 volunteers are going to deliver 4,500 turkeys to people around Lawrenceburg, and the volunteers that are here don’t know I’m here, so Eddie Russell’s about to invite me on hopefully to surprise them… And it’s my birthday.”

During his speech he said: “Thank you for being here and giving up your Saturday for this. We believe in our family that the more you’re thankful for, the more you’re going to create in your life to be thankful for. Let’s go make some people happy.”

McConaughey also posted a video where he was giving out a turkey to a group of women saying, “Come here, come here, come here. How you doing? You know what this is? It’s a turkey.”

The women were more than surprised to see the actor.

WDEF also covered the story and one of the recipients 24-year-old Carrie said, “Amazing to say the least.” She and her mother had their pictures taken with McConaughey after.
