While it may seem like a Herculean task to ditch old habits and start anew for a better you, one woman posted a number of photos to serve as inspiration for people struggling with weight loss, self-confidence and overall health. She says the secret is all about simply changing one habit at a time.
This young 4-foot-10-inch Turkish girl who goes by her alias ‘melephants,’ and she lost around 30 pounds of excess weight. She now weighs a healthy 113 lbs., a far cry from her 143 lbs. days. Her before and after pictures have recently gone viral and have had quite a remarkable impact on people.
When asked what her secret is, the petite but bold 20-year-old says there are no secrets at all. Anyone can lose weight and be healthier by making small changes in daily routine and habits, she said. She claimed to have lost all the unwanted weight through proper eating, calorie-counting, and going to the gym at least four times a week.
Melephants specified that her weight loss journey all began with a healthy shift to proper eating. She shared: “I base my meals around a source of protein now (chicken, fish) and lots of veggies. I don’t eat carbs that much, more on lifting days.” She claims that exercise was not immediately part of her routine, and that working out was gradually incorporated later on.
She admitted that even after her first month of using the treadmill, she noticed virtually no change at all, so she tried HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training. She focused on working out her upper body twice a week, and her lower body two to three times a week. The sessions included bench presses, squats, hip thrusts and even deadlifts.
She emphasized that the smallest things make a huge difference, such as increasing water intake, choosing to stand instead of sit during train rides, and keeping junk food and other unhealthy snacks out of the house. She said: “Honestly, it’s not only benefited my physical health but my mental health too. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made!”
