You Can Now Stare 1,030 Feet Down Through The Glass Floor Atop Thailand’s Tallest Building

If you’re afraid of heights, this newest attraction atop the Mahanakhon Skywalk isn’t for you. The glass floor installed in King Power Mahanakhon, the tallest building in Bangkok at 1,030 feet, isn’t for the faint of heart. The installation hangs over the side of the building, so you can get a terrifying view of the city below.

Reaching The Platform

The looming observation attraction opened to the public on November 16 atop the King Power Mahanakhon, a mixed-use project completed in 2016. Floors one through 18 will feature the yet-to-open King Power Hotel. Its striking steel and glass structure stands out along the cityscape, three-dimensional strip of “pixels” weave down the building. This construction is an architectural trick achieved by “sky boxes.”

The attraction begins on the 74th floor, which you can reach in only 50 seconds via glass elevator.

Panoramic Views

The sights begin on the 74th floor at the Indoor Observation Deck, which offers floor to ceiling 360-degree panoramic views. The view continues through the 78th floor which includes a skywalk and outdoor observation area called “The Peak”. It includes Thailand’s highest rooftop bar, which has champagne, cocktails, and an amazing sunset experience.

The surrounding view is breathtaking, but it’s nothing compared to staring straight down 1,030 feet.

The 1,030 Ft. View

Imagine slipping on protective booties outside of your shoes to stand on a glass floor on the tallest building in Thailand. How would you react? Some visitors walk confidently across the platform, others scream and their knees lock. Or they may even sit down to take a photo of themselves seated on the glass.

Crowds begin to line up around sunset to get access to the glass floor. Last admission to this thrilling addition to Bangkok’s roster of family-friendly tourist attractions is daily at 11 p.m., so you can get a great nightline sky view too.
