20 Strangers Band Together To Return Lost Dog Found 2,000 Miles From Home
Jake, a Coonhound, went missing from his home in Arizona over a year ago. His family looked all over for him but, had no luck and they lost all hope. Thanks to an implanted microchip, Jake was found! The only problem was Jake was now in Pennsylvania, over 2,000 miles away. The owners were overjoyed when they heard the news, but there was a problem. They just had a baby, and it was impossible for them to travel to pick up Jake. Check out how he got home.
Humans With Big Hearts
No one knows how Jake ended up across the country, but that’s not what mattered at this point. What mattered was getting him home to his family, but how? His family couldn’t wait to see him, but they had no idea how they would get their dog from Pennsylvania, so they contacted A Darrah Bull Bully Rescue for help.
The rescue center hatched an idea. If they could gather up a group of volunteers who were staggered from Pennsylvania to Arizona, maybe they could get Jake home. So, they set to work.
A Volunteer’s Journey
A Darrah Bull Bully Rescue gathered 20 volunteers who heard the story and love dogs. They were each set with a job, drive Jake 100 miles to the next volunteer and so on until Jake was home. The center even made Jake a t-shirt for the trip that read “Arizona or Bust.”
Jake wasn’t sure what was going on, going from one car to the next, but each person on the leg was so kind to him, he just went along for the ride.
Home Sweet Home
It took three days of coordinated effort from all 20 kind-hearted volunteers to get Jake home. His family was so excited to have him home again and Jake realized what all the traveling was about. He was back with his family!
Just when you think the world has gone mad, a story happens like Jake’s and restores all our faith in humanity. When push comes to shove, people can work together to accomplish a meaningful goal. This time it was for the love of a dog named Jake.
