This Toddler Just Had Pizza For the First Time and Wow

In a time where the world can’t seem to agree on much of anything, there is one thing that can bring most people together. Pizza. The taste of sweet red marinara sauce slathered onto a piece of bread and covered in cheese can turn an argument into a conversation and make a sad day a little more pleasant.

The Simple Joy of Pizza

For Jody Avirgan, podcaster for 30for30 and fivethiryeight, he got to see the pure joy on his daughter’s face when tasting her first slice of pizza. In a picture he posted on Twitter, his baby is seen with her hands in the air like she just don’t care that the sauce has covered her mouth. The look on her face probably made up for any mess that was made during the meal.

It is clear that the public can relate to Avirgan’s daughter. His tweet has garnered more than 60,000 retweets in the matter of days, many of whom equate their love for pizza with finding euphoria or having a religious experience.

An Undeniable Pleasure

For some people, those moments come from walking into a church or hearing a song that tugs on their heartstrings.

For Avirgan’s daughter, it was that combination of cheese, sauce, and bread that we have all come to love and crave.

Bringing People Together

No matter a person’s race, geographic location, or age, it is almost a guarantee that everyone has enjoyed a slice of pizza. People from around the globe are seeing this picture and finding common ground.

This little girl’s reaction to eating pizza for the first time reminds us all of the joy this glorious food has brought us throughout the years at birthday parties, as late-night meals and on Friday’s when mom didn’t want to cook. I doubt broccoli could do the same.
