Woman Uses Twitter to Find Date for Wedding But Gets Much More

Three years ago, Llia Apostolou had no date for a wedding she was about to attend, so she decided to think outside the box and sent out a tweet to help solve the dilemma.

Apostolou’s tweet read: “Are you a man? Can I borrow you for a wedding next weekend? Bonus points if you can source a baby that I can pretend is mine too.”

The said post had been retweeted over a thousand times and a reply from a certain Phil Gibson caught Apostolou’s attention: “I can do this, I’ve got a suit and everything!”

It only took one tweet from Gibson and the friendly and flirty exchanges between the two began.

“See you at the altar,” was Apostolou’s reply to Phil’s offer.

Gibson agreed but made sure to clarify the details so there wouldn’t be any misunderstandings. “It’s a date! Just a date though, right?” Gibson tweeted.

Apostolou then tweeted playful remarks, asking Phil as to what they were doing: “@philgibson01 is this how internet dating works?”

Gibson then jokingly told Apostolou that they should move to the next level, writing “My Grandma already wants to meet you.”

The twitter banter between them ended with a joke from Apostolou: “that’s nice and all, but I didn’t invite her to my wedding. No, wait, THE wedding. Slip of the tongue.”

Many subscribers commented that they enjoyed the exchanges but little did they know that they had witnessed the start of something incredible.

Unknown to the public, Apostolou and Gibson continued communicating. In a blog post, Apostolou wrote that “our conversation moved from tweets, to direct messages, to long and rambling emails about our lives.”

Apparently, their relationship has advanced quite a bit in the past three years and the pair recently met at another wedding—theirs! Apostolou shared on July 5 that “Almost exactly three years later, I can say… Reader, I married him.”
