Adorable Baby Steals The Show While Serenaded By Dad

Baby

There’s no question that the bond shared between a father and his daughter is like no other. So when mom, Danielle Johnson Jones, posted a video on Facebook of Dad sweetly serenading their adorable baby girl, it already had our vote for one of the sweetest videos around. Only a few moments into Rascal Flatt’s tune, “I’m Moving On,” the precious little babe joins right in, singing along with Daddy. The cuteness is almost too much to handle!

Young Talent

Though this little girl may be too young to sing along with the actual lyrics, it’s clear that she is taking in everything that her father is so preciously sharing with her. Propped up on the kitchen table, Dad keeps his hands supportively wrapped under his daughter’s little chubby arms as he sings a somber yet beautiful tune to her. When she joins in, she matches his pitch and wails along, immediately upstaging his already impressive performance. The video goes on, and as he continues the song, she joins in intermittently, transfixed by his vocals and loving eye contact. Dad even lets her do a solo near the middle, and she couldn’t shine brighter. It seems there may be two singers in the family! Imagine all the duets to come.

Smarter Than You Think

According to a study done by researchers in Hungary and The Netherlands in 2009, babies as young as one day old can differentiate between rhythmic patterns. What does that indicate? We, as humans, are born with innate musical abilities. There’s also evidence to suggest that singing to and playing music for infants can aid in their development. You know the way you speak to babies in a higher-pitched, almost sing-song tone? There’s a name for it: “infant-directed music.” Research has shown that this type of music likely leads to a stronger bond between caretaker and child as well as a positively heightened mood in the baby.

A Song of Reflection

Every parent can tell you how many ups and downs they experience daily, especially when it comes to watching their little ones grow up. While the Rascall Flatts song he sings is a sad one, some of the lyrics resonate with the complex yet gratifying experience of parenthood.

Though every father, no doubt, has a different experience, most would agree that life seems to begin anew when their first child is brought into the world. From then on, their purpose is clear, and the love they experience is unending. The lyrics speak to the fast pace that begins when you’re raising a child. One day they’re in diapers, and the next they’re already off to college. Every moment is precious, and remaining present throughout it all couldn’t be more important. Certainly not a bad message to be passing onto your child from the start.

A Public’s Resounding Symphony

Give the internet a cute baby video, and they’ll ask for another one. This one certainly did the trick, going viral in a big way. With over 13 million views, 301,000 shares, and 18,000 comments, this father and daughter duet is the song heard around the world. From commenter praising the father’s parenting like Deborah Richline (“Aw beautiful! More dads needs to be like him”) to those that couldn’t contain their excitement like Mary Gilbert Click (“THAT SO PRECIOUS LOVE IT”), everyone seemed to have something supportive to say. And though Danielle Johnson Jones captioned the video, “He’s going to kill me for posting this!!”, we have a feeling that he might’ve been glad that she did in the end. So is another commenter, Pauline Richardson: “He can’t kill you cos it’s so beautiful!” There’s nothing not to love about a heartwarming video like this one, and we couldn’t be gladder that it has been so well received and passed around. Now go and give your dad a hug, and if you’ve got the pipes, ask him to join you for a round of karaoke. Let the bonding begin!
