Bill Murray Applied To Work At P.F Chang’s… And Got Accepted!

Murray

Bill Murray is a hoot – that fact is well known. Whether he’s falling off chairs during live TV interviews or showing up to student dorms to wash the dishes, the funnyman is always cropping up in the news for his wild antics.

So, it wasn’t the biggest surprise when the reports went viral about Mr. Murray applying – and being offered the job – at P.F. Chang’s!

In case you didn’t hear the news, here is what went down. Bill was a guest on Amy Schumer’s “Three Girls One Keith” podcast and was asked what his most preferred job would be outside of acting. Not an unusual question of course, but Murray being Murray, an unusual answer was given.

“I filled an application form out once, for P.F Chang’s at the Atlanta airport,” he said. Very specific! “I think that is one of the greatest places, and it looks like the best time,” he continued musing.

And it’s true, it does look like fun – serving plenty of happy Hartsfield-Jackson travelers on their way to holidays or to see friends and family, stopping for some tasty shrimp dim sum before the journey.

So imagine if you were one of those customers and Bill Murray himself walks up to wait on your table.

P.F Chang’s was, of course, contacted to give their side of this exciting news, and their publicist confirmed that the staff do indeed have the best time working there. Sadly, they said they’d not been able to find Mr. Murray’s application – perhaps because they are so popular? However, in an exciting development, they offered him the job regardless, stating that they were sure he’d make an excellent wok chef.

There’s something about Bill

Atlanta is a common hot spot for Murray, most recently for his short but very entertaining cameo role in “Zombieland Double Tap,” which filmed there. His deadpan comedy is what made him so famous, but he is equally as well known for his mischievous behavior.

Airports tend to be a particular trigger for his mischief, and he was only 20 years old when he made one jape that landed him in a bit of bother. After boarding a plane at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport on his birthday, he thought it funny to joke to a fellow passenger that he had concealed a bomb in his luggage. This ill-thought-out comment lead to his bags being searched, where the authorities discovered 10 pounds of cannabis that he was allegedly intending to sell.

Thankfully, his capers have been a little more law-abiding since then. The 70-year old is a known lover of booze. He will often hop behind the bar at different establishments to make awful cocktails or pour strong shots. There are a good many tales of engagement photos, bachelor and wedding party-crashing, where Bill will offer advice such as “bachelor parties are not for the groom…they’re for the other guys.”

More Murray mayhem

He is known to be a fan of Wal-Mart, where he enjoys mucking about with merchandise. One shopper in Southfield, Michigan, spotted him wearing a full firefighter’s uniform while riding a kids’ plastic trike. A surreal scene indeed!

And while there’s too much Murray mayhem to fit into one article, we’ll finish on one of the most heart-warming. When chatting with a cab driver after a TV appearance, he discovered the saxophone-playing worker was too busy to practice his passion. So, he asked the driver to pull over so they could swap places. The driver then practiced saxophone all the way to Bill’s destination many, many miles away. And to finish the epic encounter, they got barbecue after.

God bless you Bill, never change!
