The Cheesecake Factory Gave Out Free Food On April Fools’ Day, And It Wasn’t A Prank

If you’re a fan of The Cheesecake Factory (and who isn’t?), you’re probably kicking yourself for missing out on this great deal. On April 1, otherwise known as April Fools’ Day, The Cheesecake Factory gave out free food to 1,000 hungry customers. It seemed like a great idea, but was it all a prank?

If Oprah Winfrey was at The Cheesecake Factory on April 1, she would have announced, “You get cheesecake, you get cheesecake, you get cheesecake, everybody gets cheesecake!” But that’s what happened to 1,000 lucky The Cheesecake Factory customers.

The popular restaurant chain offered $25 of free food to 1,000 customers who ordered through DoorDash, an on-demand food delivery service. The event started at 4 p.m. and it worked on a first-come, first served basis. The first 1,000 customers received a $25 gift card to spend on their order. The gift card could be used for a week, not just on April Fools’ Day. That’s a great gift, right?

They Weren’t Joking

Customers were skeptical to believe the news that they could receive a free cheesecake (and more) on April Fools’ Day. After all, you’re taught a young age not to believe anyone on the peculiar holiday. But contrary to what they thought, it wasn’t a prank. The restaurant partnered with DoorDash in what could become the biggest business collaboration in recent years.

People love cheesecake, but they also love to stay home. They love food delivered to their front door. We’re sure if The Golden Girls could have had cheesecake delivered to their door, they would have gladly participated in the online event.

We’re not sure if The Cheesecake Factory will offer the same discount event next year, but it’s never too early to get prepared. Stay up-to-date on the restaurant’s news— because if you’re like the rest of us, you heard about the discount after April Fools’ Day.
