Couple Invites Weddings Guests To Wear Their Old Wedding Dresses, And We’re In Love With The Results
Every couple is allowed to plan their wedding according to their preferences. Some have traditional weddings, while others ignore tradition and have the most modern wedding possible. This includes Jesse and Audrey Lumen, who celebrated their love in a December 2018 wedding in front of their friends and family. But they had an unusual dress code requirement that had everyone talking.
Wearing Your Dress Again
The couple asked their female guests to wear their old wedding gowns. Jesse commented, “We thought it was sad that most women only get to wear their wedding dress once, so we invited all the women coming to our non-traditional wedding to wear their old wedding dress again!”
Audrey designed her custom-made blue wedding dress, inspired by the Disney princesses Cinderella and Elsa. She was standing front and center, surrounded by her friends wearing their nostalgic white gowns.
To contrast, Jesse and his groomsmen wore custom-made tuxedo print hoodie sweatshirts with dark blue jeans instead of formal tuxedos. Jesse commented, “Who wants to wear a tux?” At least they were comfortable.
The bride and groom’s mothers served as flower girls for the wedding ceremony. The wedding reception was decorated like a movie theater with concession food, a French Fry bar, and 18 unique wedding cakes decorated by their guests. Everyone danced to movie soundtracks and television theme songs.
Playing All Night Long
The reception also featured vintage arcade games, including Skee-Ball, The Simpsons arcade game, and classic video games. Guests played all night long until it was time to participate in a playful costume contest.
Guests changed out of their wedding gowns and casual wear into a costume of their choice. The bride and groom weren’t afraid to participate in the fun. At the end of the night, they held an awards ceremony for best costume and awarded special gifts to family members who helped plan the wedding. The happy couple had the wedding they always wanted, and that’s all that matters.
