Dad Makes Emotional Timelapse of Daughter Growing Up from Birth to 18

At the age of 18, Lotte Hofmeester is a bit young to have her whole life flash before her eyes, but it’s her father that is to blame and the whole world now knows it.

Meet Lotte Hofmeester

Lotte’s your ordinary Dutch girl and has lived a fairly uneventful life until recently. Her father, however, has just turned Lotte’s childhood into a global phenomenon.

You see, unlike your average photographer, Frans didn’t think that a photo album would do his lovely daughter justice. So he used a classic filmmaking technique to record her life instead.

Time-Lapse Photography

Frans used time-lapse photography to create a sensational video in which Lotte goes from the day of her birth to the age of 12 in just 2 minutes and 49 seconds. Then he released another with her reaching 18 in just under 6 minutes too!

He says the project started because “I noticed differences between her at two days and two weeks. I wanted to capture the changes because they were happening so fast so I started filming her every few days.”

The World Loved What He Had Done

Frans posted the video on YouTube because he wanted to share it with friends and family. It ended up being shared quite a bit more than that. As of this week, more than 9 million people have watched it!

People who’ve seen it say that it’s amazing because Lotte experiences so many emotions in such a short period of time as she grows.

This kind of thing is only going to be more popular in the future, too. Daniel Fisher, the CEO of Viral Spiral, specializes in viral content and he says this is a surefire way to bring in the views. He told The Times newspaper, “They are exceptionally popular at the moment. It is amazing to see a child’s development in two minutes and it intrigues people.”

Don’t take our word for it. Watch Lotte’s video yourself below:
