How An Egg Beat Kylie Jenner For The Record Of Most-Liked Instagram Post

A photograph of an egg interrupted the Internet when it broke Kylie Jenner’s record for the most-liked photo on Instagram. The picture, from the account @world_record_egg, became a viral topic on social media when numerous Instagram users urged others to support the page, hoping to beat Jenner’s record. It finally happened on January 13, and Jenner wasn’t afraid to participate in the fun.

Jenner’s Heartfelt Photo

On February 6, 2018, Jenner shared the first photograph of her newborn daughter, Stormi Webster. It’s a heartfelt photo, with Stormi’s hand wrapped around the new mother’s finger. The Instagram post received a record-breaking 18.2 million likes, beating the previous record held by Justin Bieber.

But on January 4, the humble account @world_record_egg entered the realms of Instagram with one purpose: to beat Jenner’s world record. Instagram users began sharing the photo of the seemingly ordinary egg on their own pages, quickly gaining attention. Before long, we were witnessing the birth of a viral social media craze.

Beating Jenner’s Record

It didn’t take long for the photo of the egg to break the world record. In just 10 days, the photo broke the record and has now received over 30 million likes. Meanwhile, the account hasn’t posted any additional photos. It only wanted its one photo to beat Jenner’s record.

It doesn’t look like this is the end of the viral social media craze. The photograph continues to receive more likes and the account is gaining more followers by the minute. Upon beating the world record, the holders of the Instagram account shared a comment: “It doesn’t end here though, we’ve only just started.”

Jenner’s Hilarious Reaction

Jenner was quick to respond to the news of no longer having the world record for the most Instagram likes. She shared a video of herself cracking an egg onto a hot road. Her caption simply read: “Take that little egg.”
