Most stars are happy to share their public admiration for other artists or celebrities. But being a super fan who just so happens to be a celebrity can have its own unique perk. For famous fans, the chances of them meeting or working with their idols is high, and can even lead to some legendary relationships. It’s time to find out which headline-grabbing romances started off as just a celebrity crush.
1. Gigi Hadid & Zayn Malik
It isn’t hard to miss a statuesque blonde wearing huge wings — at least not for Zayn Malik. The soulful crooner met supermodel Gigi Hadid at an after party for the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The former boy band member recognized the model “from her picture”, and the two immediately hit it off.
Shortly after meeting, Hadid starred in his racy video for the single “Pillow Talk”, which naturally set the gossip world on fire. Not only is the British musician smitten with her looks, but says “she’s a very intelligent woman” and “cool”. While the genetically-blessed duo has been on and off for several years, fans can rejoice in the fact that Hadid recently announced she is expecting Zayn’s child.
2. Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher
Few people get to marry the person they shared their first kiss with. Luckily for actress Mila Kunis, her first time locking lips was with her That ‘70s Show co-star who’s now her husband: Ashton Kutcher. Kunis, only 14 at the time, admits Kutcher was her celebrity crush.
Kunis recalls being “nervous and uncomfortable” at the idea of kissing the former Calvin Klein model, despite thinking he was handsome. The two didn’t date while filming, but reconnected years later, and things have been just groovy ever since. Kunis and Kutcher married in 2015, and have two sons. Kunis couldn’t be happier, she refers to Kutcher as “the world’s greatest husband”, and it’s safe to assume Kutcher is equally head-over-heels for her.
3. John Legend & Chrissy Teigen
Never one to shy away from sharing her thoughts, model and aspiring chef Chrissy Teigen was very open about how she and musician John Legend met. Teigen reveals that their love story all began when Legend saw a picture of her. He then hired her to play his love interest in the music video for his song “Stereo”.
On set, things heated up rather quickly, according to the model, and soon enough, they began dating. Teigen, a fan of Legend in return, admitted to have scoured online gossip sites to see who he was dating. They married in 2013, and now, known as one of the Internet’s “favorite couples”, the two continue to capture the hearts of fans with heartwarming pictures of them with their children.
4. Sofia Vergara & Joe Manganiello
Fans have to hand it to actor Joe Manganiello for his honesty in explaining how he and his wife Sofia Vergara met. Not only did Manganiello profess to People magazine that the Colombian Modern Family actress was his ideal celebrity crush, but that he couldn’t take “[his] eyes off of her” after seeing her in a particularly form-fitting dress.
The True Blood actor wasn’t the only one intimidated. Vergara reveals that she was initially hesitant to pursue the Magic Mike star because she thought “he’s too handsome”. Thankfully, the two overcame those hurdles, and got married in 2015. Since then, the two have been heating up red carpets everywhere.
5. Ricky Martin & Jwan Yosef
Art has the ability to bring people together, and in the case of Latin pop sensation Ricky Martin, it helped him meet his husband. In an interview with Attitude magazine, he reveals that being an avid art collector, he was amazed at the work of artist Jwan Yosef. As a fan, he immediately messaged the artist to talk about his work. The correspondence soon turned romantic, and Martin came to the realization: “I am going to marry this guy.”
After taking their conversation offline, the two met up in London, where they had their first date in person. Martin and Yosef quickly fell in love, and married in 2017. The couple, who already had three children, recently welcomed a fourth addition to their artistic brood.
6. Fergie & Josh Duhamel
Working alongside your celebrity crush could be intimidating, but it can also lead to some incredible things. When “Fergalicious” singer Fergie made a cameo in the NBC drama Las Vegas, actor Josh Duhamel was taken aback. The actor had just finished revealing to InStyle magazine that he had recently had a provocative dream involving the Black Eyed Peas singer, and confessed: “I’ve got the biggest crush on her! God, she is hot!”
Fergie, however, was no shrinking daisy. The singer recognized her celebrity crush from his early work in soap operas, and was equally enamored. She questioned him about the dream, and she must have liked his answer. The two continued to date, and tied the knot in 2009. The romance didn’t end up lasting, and the two announced their separation in 2017.
7. David Beckham & Victoria Beckham
Few celebrity couples are considered royalty in their countries, especially the way Victoria “Posh Spice” and David Beckham are in the U.K. The two, nicknamed “Posh and Becks”, have captivated the British public, not to mention the tabloid world, for decades. But behind the headlines, their story began as a celebrity crush coupled with having been at the right place, at the right time.
The two met at a charity soccer match, where Victoria and the star player exchanged numbers. David reveals that Victoria would hang around the soccer field “stalking” him. He also admitted that he developed feelings for the Spice Girl after seeing her in a video, which prompted him to proclaim: “That one there, that’s the girl I’m going to marry.” Beckham’s prediction must have been manifested, because the two have been married since 1999, and have four children together.

Momoa revealed on The Late Late Show with James Corden that as soon as he saw Bonet on TV, he told his mother, “Mommy, I want that one,” and that “she was a queen, always.”
His childhood fantasy soon became a reality when the two met decades later at a jazz club. Momoa describes the interaction as setting off “fireworks” inside his head, and the two began dating. Known for their laidback style, the two are considered one of the coolest, not to mention strongest, couples in Hollywood.
10. Chris Hemsworth & Elsa Pataky
When Spanish model and actress Elsa Pataky was 15, she got a tattoo symbolizing the legend of the hammer-wielding Norse god, Thor. Little did she know that her interest in Norse mythology would pay off when she ended up marrying the star of the Thor series, Australian actor Chris Hemsworth.
Pataky, one of the world’s highest-paid models, was smitten with the brawny Australian even before meeting him. She laughs, saying that she fell in love after hearing his voice while speaking to him over the phone. Pataky and Hemsworth married less than a year after meeting, and now have three children.
