This Flight Attendant Had To Work Christmas, So Her Dad Booked 6 Flights And Joined Her

The holidays are supposed to be spent with loved ones. But what if you have to work? In a now viral Facebook post, Delta passenger Hal Vaughan wasn’t going to let the fact that his daughter, Pierce, worked on Christmas as a flight attendant stop him from spending time with her. Instead, he scheduled to fly on each of her flights, so she wouldn’t alone. According to the Internet now, he’s definitely in the running for Father of the Year.

Booking Six Flights

The holidays are best spent with family and loved ones. So, Vaughan booked six flights in accordance with his daughter’s busy flight schedule. He traveled across the country just to spend the holidays with her. He used his daughter’s staff travel benefits and was cooperative with the gate agents and flight crew to take any seat available on the planes. Vaughan didn’t care where he sat, as long as he was with his daughter. Vaughan’s daughter was blown away by her thoughtful father’s Christmas present.

“A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class (from Southwest Florida International Airport to Detroit Metropolitan Airport), which is a Christmas miracle,” Pierce wrote on Facebook. To make the heartwarming holiday account even better, Vaughan planned the whole thing as a surprise.

Spreading The Word

Originally, no one was going to know about the heartwarming father-daughter gesture. But during the flight to Detroit, Vaughan was sitting next to fellow traveler Mike Levy, who was surprised (and humbled) when he heard about Vaughan’s caring act.

Levy shared a photo on Facebook of the two passengers, along with one of Vaughan’s daughter, writing: “What a fantastic father! Wish you both a very Merry Christmas!” Levy’s Facebook post soon caught the attention of social media users across the world.

Becoming A Viral Topic

No one anticipates becoming a viral topic, but that’s exactly what happened to Levy, Vaughan, and Pierce. The story was shared by millions on social media, with everyone agreeing that Vaughan deserves a Father of the Year title.

Even Delta participated in the conversation: “We appreciate all of our employees for working during the holidays to serve Delta customers, and love seeing this awesome Dad having the chance to spend Christmas with his daughter—even while crisscrossing the country at 30,000 feet.”
