While it might not necessarily feel like it is true, babies can hear sounds even when they’re in the womb. They can recognize their parents’ voices. Don’t believe us? Just ask Flávio Dantas, who looked forward to the birth of his first daughter. He talked to her every day while his partner, Tarsila Rosa, was pregnant.
Dantas was certainly surprised when his daughter recognized his voice as soon as she was born. He shared the heartwarming story on Instagram, and it didn’t take long for the post to go viral. Who doesn’t love stories about adorable babies?
Babies Can Hear You
At 18 weeks in the pregnancy, babies start to hear sounds. They gradually become more sensitive to sound and it’s recommended for women to speak to their babies growing in their wombs. Several sing lullabies or tell them stories. Many others play classical music and they encourage their partner to talk to the baby, as well.
By 24 weeks, a baby’s ears are developing at a rapid rate. They will grow more sensitive to various sounds during the weeks leading up to the delivery. It only makes sense that babies would be able to identify their parents’ voices even before they’re delivered into the world.
Talking To His Baby
Dantas decided to test this scientific theory. He would talk to his baby every morning and in the evening once he returned home from work. He would tell his baby everything about his day, including all of the details about his work. She had no other choice but to listen to him. He repeated how much he loved her. Many times, he stroked Rosa’s pregnant stomach and he told his daughter that he would always be there for her, no matter what.
Dantas was unsure if his baby could hear what he was saying every day. However, he never stopped talking throughout Rosa’s pregnancy. It helped him form a special bond with his daughter long before she was born. He wouldn’t trade the experience for the world.
Reacting To His Voice
The Brazilian couple’s daughter, Antonella, was born on August 8, 2019. After she was born, Dantas started talking to her—just like he had when Rosa was still pregnant. Antonella started smiling as soon as she heard her father’s voice, confirming that she heard him the entire time. She recognized his voice. Luckily, the heartwarming experience was captured on camera.
Dantas was over-the-moon with his emotions about his newborn daughter. He expressed his feelings for her as “a love that does not fit inside my chest.” Rosa added that their daughter is “a gift sent by my Lord.” The happy family of three is currently living in Rio de Janeiro, and they’re certainly enjoying watching Antonella as she continues to grow and develop new skills.
Going Viral On Social Media
The couple’s heartwarming photos were shared on an Instagram account (@antonella.vilela), which documents their daughter’s growth and development. The photos quickly went viral. Many Instagram users commented on the adorable experience. Several of them shared similar experiences they had when they were expecting their children.
For example, user (@k82floridagirl) commented, “Our kids did the same thing! My husband would talk to them every day and sing sometimes.” Another user (@pandapoeapple) commented, “Couldn’t have made a better entrance!” Finally, user (@djeff_15) said, “I guess we can all stop posting pictures now because this one takes the cake! Beautiful story and pictures. I love it!”
It’s impossible to disagree with the Instagram user. Antonella smiled brightly for her father—for the father she always knew. She recognized his voice and they have a bond no one can ever break. We suspect she will have him wrapped around her little finger.
She Wasn’t Sure What To Do, But It Kept Coming to Her Neighborhood
Two years had passed, and Joie was no closer to getting answers. Day after day, she kept encountering the same unkempt, haggard sight in her neighborhood in the Southern California desert, and it seemed that nobody else was going to intervene to make a change. It all depended on her, but she knew she couldn’t do it alone. She had to call for help from Los Angeles. Only together would they be able to tackle this creature.
