Florida Couple Shelters 70 Foster Kids, Throws an Epic Sleepover

A Florida couple turned an otherwise horrific experience into something memorable for 70 foster kids who were caught trapped in the onslaught of Hurricane Irma.

Marc and Jennifer Bell sheltered 70 foster children when Hurricane Irma hit Florida and they turned it into an epic sleepover. The couple hosted the kids in their Boca Raton home and even provided surprises like ice cream trucks, games, pizza, late night TV shows, and manicures, to name a few.

The couple even went overboard and threw birthday parties for those who were celebrating their birthdays. Interviewed by Inside Edition, Jennifer said: “They were the best house guests that we’ve ever had. They were so respectful. They were just thankful that people were looking out for them.”

Marc also commented that these children only wanted people to show them love. He added: “They just wanted someone to talk to, someone to care for them. And we treated them like they were our own.”

The kids really did have the best 3 days of their lives, which felt more like a vacation than a shelter. Marc said: “At the end of the day, these kids are our future. They may have had a bad break in life, but the reality is they are the future doctors, lawyers, bankers, presidents – you never know.”

The philanthropic couple has been working closely with SOS Children’s Village where the foster kids came from. It just so happened that the shelter lost power when Hurricane Irma struck the state, so Marc suggested that the kids could come over to his house.

Almost a hundred people showed up at the house, including the children and their chaperones. The Bells invited a clown and rented an ice cream truck to entertain the kids. Overall, it was more than a pleasant experience for both the couple and the kids.
