This Photoshop Wiz Takes Requests Literally, And The Results Are Hilarious

photoshop

James Fridman is a graphic designer from London with some serious Photoshop skills and a sense of humor to match. After getting a series of requests asking him to use his Photoshop prowess to alter the appearance of other people one too many times, he decided to send a message of acceptance and self-love in the best way possible. Much to the Internet’s entertainment, his edits always reflect what’s been asked for (if you want to get technical), but not quite in the way they might have expected. With this master of intentional misinterpretation, it’s all about a little wordplay, and a whole lot of Photoshop fun.

1. On the Edge of Their Seats

This couple had a perfectly lovely photo, albeit a bit off-center. Given the general public’s varying opinions on PDA, we’d like to assume this couple respectfully waited until their seatmates were out of sight before taking this pre-smooch snap. Either way, the couple was photographed sitting in sardine-like style as if to make room for others. So they appealed to master photo manipulator James Fridman.

photoshop

James used his signature Photoshop skills to literally accomplish this woman’s request to edit the shot and place her and her beau further down the bench. Well, she should have been a little more specific. No longer a couple about to kiss, these two might as well be strangers, as they look off in opposite directions. But hey, at least the bench is being used to its full seating potential, right? And isn’t that what she wanted after all?

2. Big Biceps

Listen up lads, sure, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson looks cool, but he basically works out all day to look like that! No one expects you to have his arms. This guy, who was snapped in front of a silver Rolls Royce, asked James for bigger arms, to better steer with? The motive was unclear, but again, you’d better choose your words carefully when asking for some Photoshop alterations that can be interpreted with ambiguity.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Our perfectly proportional pal presumably wanted some hulking biceps beneath that maroon short-sleeved button up he’s sporting, but if we’re getting technical, he got exactly what he asked for – not only bigger, but longer arms. Guess it just goes to show, bigger isn’t always better.

3. We All Scream for Ice Cream

Sometimes it’s not about what you take away, but what you can add to a situation that makes it so much better than before. Here, three lovely ladies (bridesmaids perhaps?) were hoping James would do them a solid and take away the shiny bald head taking up the bottom of the frame.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Instead of seeing the top of someone’s head as a detraction, James added some chocolate syrup and a waffle cone and suddenly, dessert was served! Now, the three fancily dressed gals have a fun frozen treat in their photo, instead of some stranger’s bulbous bald head. And honestly, what situation isn’t made sweeter with some ice cream?

4. Ready for a Picnic

The picture looks pretty perfect before this young lady asked for a little Photoshop tweak. She’s centered in the frame, the backdrop is pretty nice, and she’s got the start of a smile spreading across her face, what more could you ask for? Well, a snack might be nice.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

James must’ve been hungry for yet another tongue-in-cheek masterpiece when he received this, because when he read wings, his mind skipped straight past the angel’s wings she was presumably hoping for, and gave her everyone’s favorite snack instead — a bucket of chicken wings. Next time, she should specify, buffalo wings or barbecue, and maybe that smile would’ve been even bigger.

5. Everybody Say Cheese!

Now now ladies, it’s time to stop fostering this sense of competition among one another and save it for other arenas. Both you ladies in this photo were apparently crushing on the same guy, and so our friend on the right asked that James make her look “grate” to set her apart from her romantic competition.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

It seems someone should have spellchecked their message at least once before hitting send, because her typo was the perfect launch pad for the comically literal graphic designer. It just goes to show, even when two friends have a mutual love interest, don’t be a spoilsport and resort to sabotage. Go out there and find yourselves some new suitors, or your hopes may be shredded.

6. Some Megawatt Smiles

Some people don’t like to smile with teeth – and that’s okay (you do you, Victoria Beckham)! Smile however you feel best expresses your present state of joy. Tyra Banks taught the public about the “smize” (smiling with your eyes) and if it’s good enough for iconic model Tyra Banks, it’s good enough for us.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Still, never one to disappoint a client, James managed to address the request of this petitioner and have her sister’s teeth show. Maybe the reason her mouth was closed in the first place was because she didn’t have her dentures in? Either way, the whole process certainly gives these sisters something to laugh about, with or without teeth showing – just like the next funny Photoshop edits to come.

7. Sunny Day on Sesame Street

Young folks, don’t stress. You can’t help but have body hair – and it’s totally natural, nothing to be ashamed of. That being said, it’s understandable that this guy’s girlfriend might not be thrilled by her boyfriend’s armpit hair making such a prominent cameo in this summer snap.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

In his infinite wisdom, James Fridman knew exactly what to do to mask the unsightly patch of hair. No need to be grossed out, your boyfriend is just holding an Ernie doll up to his armpit, obviously, where else would one hold their Muppet paraphernalia? Since Sesame Street is universally beloved, it’s hard to imagine this clever edit didn’t go gangbusters.

8. A Magical Moment at the Most Magical Place

Alright, it’s actually kind of understandable that this guy would want his girlfriend’s eyes closed in this photo. Kissing with eyes wide open is a bit like yawning with open eyes, something about it is just unsettling. Thus, this boyfriend turned to James to salvage the situation.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

The couple was standing in front of Cinderella’s Castle at Disney World, and surely, that’s why this woman’s eyes were open – she didn’t want to miss a moment of her time in the most magical place on earth (or, at the very least, the most magical place in Florida). Always one to find a most unexpectedly clever solution, James understood that only some outsider interference would get this gal to close her eyes. Mission accomplished.

9. Setting the Scene

Be careful what you wish for young lady – it might come true! After taking a pretty picture in a party dress, presumably before a fun and fancy night on the town, this young lady realized that the scene’s staging included less than suitable accessories for her nice white dress.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

But, in asking James to move the offensive items out from behind her, ruining the backdrop of her shot, she was a bit too vague in her instructions. One can’t argue that James doesn’t listen to directions. In the edited version of the photo, the flamingo and trash can weren’t behind the subject anymore. As instructed, the witty designer removed the objects from the backdrop. But in a comical twist, he didn’t completely make them disappear as the party-goes had likely wished, instead placing her in the background.

10. Hitting the Highlighter

Without a doubt, makeup trends are hard to keep up with. Is “strobing” still a thing? Are people still “baking” their foundation? Contour and highlighter on the other hand, are cosmetic mainstays more than makeup fads, and really, this young lady isn’t wrong, you can’t have one without the other – which is where she was hoping Photoshop extraordinaire James Fridman could help out.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Having perfectly applied her contour before taking a selfie, this woman must have skipped a step, and forgotten to add a little artificial glow in the form of some sparkly highlighter. Jamie did just as he was asked, only his highlighter was a bit more of the neon yellow office supply variety.

11. I Want to Hold Your Hand?

The Beatles said it best, don’t we all just want to hold hands? There’s something so sweet about a little hand-in-hand reassurance, although apparently this guy didn’t feel the same way. These dapper dudes seemed happy enough to be in each other’s company in the original shot, but not so happy that they wanted to be holding hands.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Have no fear, James Fridman to the rescue. Instead of appearing as though he was holding his friend’s hand, the Photoshop genius”fixed” the picture so that the man in the foreground would be holding his friend’s… foot. Frankly, holding someone’s foot seems like much more of an act of intimacy than hand-holding. One foot all, and all foot one?

12. Hello My Name Is…

Why do all these couples keep trying to change their photos? Dating is tough enough as is, let’s stop trying to turn our partners into something they’re not. The girlfriend in this selfie seems pretty happy to be by her man’s side, but for some reason, she wanted him to appear rich.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

We’re not entirely sure what being “rich” would look like in this instance – stacks of cash piled up to his chin? A gold grill? Well, she got her wish when James Fridman entered the picture. They say you can’t change a person, just their haircut and their clothes — a simple shirt change and voila – her boyfriend is “rich,” or shall we say, Rich.

13. Golden Oldies

Not to sound like a Hallmark card or anything but life’s all about the journey, enjoy yourselves and your youth! Someone should have told that to these two young gals before they turned to Photoshop wiz James Fridman to ask him if he could play Father Time and age them up a bit.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

No longer mature women trapped in the body of two teenagers, James made the image reflect their longings to be more mature, much much more mature. He even appealed to their request to be present at a hootin’ good time and Photoshopped them with a squad at party, albeit not the kind they were likely expecting. They say youth is wasted on the young, but check out those fun hats!

14. Profile Pic Perfection

This guy gets it. For all the social media snooping that everyone is up to these days, why make it harder for someone to spot you in a pack of your pals. Especially with an online dating profile photo, it would be a shame if a potential suitor mistook you for someone else in the snap.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Looking to clarify things for everyone all around, this guy gave James loose instructions: just make it obvious the guy in the blue shirt is the focus of the photo. Well, no one will be able to miss whose profile photo this is anymore, that’s for sure. If that cracked you up, keep reading for more sidesplitting Photoshop “fixes.”

15. Down with Dabbing

When will the dance-move-turned-popular-photo-trend called dabbing finally go the way of the Cabbage Patch or the Roger Rabbit (two dance moves for those of you too young to have busted a move on a dance floor in the late ’80s or early ’90s) and just fade from dance floors and photo posing culture?

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Evidently, not soon enough for this prom-goer’s taste. Or for James Fridman’s for that matter. The ingenious photo hacker made it pretty clear what he thinks of dabbing, or how little he thinks of it, to be specific. Let’s all agree it’s time to drop dabbing, just like this girl dropped her dabbing friend, thanks to Photoshop.

16. Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Sure, the Kardashians are all over our screens, and social media, and well, they’re everywhere. But it’s still important to embrace our unique looks, and stop trying to keep up with the ubiquitous Kardashians. And James Fridman had a clever way of making that clear to one Twitter user asking for some touch ups.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Maybe don’t include “Any of them” when particularly looking for a Kim-esque makeover, or you could end up looking like Rob Kardashian. Still, if the desire to look a little more Kardashian sticks, Kim and Kylie have cosmetics lines that may be worth a try. Alternatively, there’s always just acceptance that the world already has all the Kardashians it needs.

17. Brotherly Bonding

The bond between these brothers is clearly unbreakable. The brothers who play tennis together, stay together, or something to that effect. Anyhow, this tow-headed twosome of tennis enthusiasts wanted to take a picture together, and to complete their twining, asked if James could do a little t-shirt Photoshop.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Jamie was more than happy to oblige the brothers’ request. Of course, he took their request to have matching doubles’ uniforms with his signature humorous twist. Having been Photoshopped into the same t-shirt, these brothers couldn’t possibly get any closer. This was yet another ace by James, but there’s more knee-slapping Photoshop fun where that came from.

18. The Face of Change

Girlfriends, it’s time to accept your partners as they are. Sometimes their face may take up a full third of your phone’s camera screen, and that’s just something you should learn to love about them, you take the good with the bad. Still, this girlfriend turned to a pro for some sizing readjustments.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

What she presumably was trying to ask for when she requested James make her partner’s face smaller was to Photoshop her boyfriend’s whole head so that it appeared a bit smaller in comparison to her. Much to our entertainment, though, she didn’t specify that. James is nothing if not a stickler for following directions, and so he did as he was asked, and shrunk this guy’s facial features.

19. Space Cadet

This girl will apparently go on dreaming about being Photoshopped among the stars a little longer by the looks of things. This Photoshop hopeful had asked James Fridman if he could portray her “in space.” Well, like many of her predecessors, she should have been a little more specific.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Without making any specification, James could just as easily assume that the “space” this girl was dreaming of was the space bar on a computer keyboard. Actually, who’s to say this isn’t what she had in mind all along? Maybe she was a real keyboard enthusiast? If we’re being literal, Jame’s out-of-the-box thinking design job has fulfilled her greatest wish.

20. Shaping Up Quite Nicely

The idea that one face shape is more desirable than another is pretty ludicrous, and yet, the idea that a square jawline is preferable persists. This gal got it into her head that her head was a little too round, and so she enlisted James Fridman’s assistance in altering her face shape, to hilarious results.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

She couldn’t possibly have found her new face too round with this hilariously interpretation of her photo editing request. This young woman is obviously intelligent seeing as she was smart enough to wear her seatbelt, so we hope she was fast to learn a lesson in self-love from Jame’s Photoshop job; or, that there’s nothing wrong with round especially when rectangular is the alternative.

21. Congrats Grad!

You’ve worked hard for four years, and the world is your oyster. Taking a celebratory shot against the hood of his car, this college grad thought the pic might be better if he was leaning on something a little pricier. Keeping with the theme of the snap, James’ edits were seamless.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

No one can argue that student loans aren’t more expensive than a car and given that 71% (!) of students take out loans to facilitate their studies, it’s pretty on point that Tanner would be Photoshopped atop thousands of dollars of student loans. Congrats again graduate, adulthood is coming.

22. Hold On Tight!

This girl was off to a great start! She apparently really liked this photo of herself, and why shouldn’t she, it was well-lit and filled the frame, but she found the position of her hand off-putting and wanted the designer for a flare of the flippant to fix it. James didn’t agree that it ought to be removed, and thus presented her another option.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Instead of removing her hand, as per her request, James added another element to the picture, pointed out that her hand might, well, come in handy. The cheeky graphic designer used the opportunity to edit this woman’s photo, making her appear as if she were riding in a particularly packed bu with all the seats taken, clutching a pole for dear life.

23. Attack of the Teletubbies

Some people are afraid of spiders, others are afraid of heights, and some people are apparently terrified of Teletubbies. Remember Teletubbies? They were meant to entertain children, and they may have seemed sweet then, but imagine being chased by four giant Teletubbies in an empty alleyway. Not so sweet anymore.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

What was probably just an oddly-timed snap of someone mid-motion, could also be taken as a girl running scared. Based on the instructions of the subject’s friend to Photoshop in something scary, it was safe to assume that James had a hysterical, albeit peculiar, edit:  Teletubbies. The yellow Teletubby, Laa-Laa seems excited, but Dipsy, the green one, is looking slightly menacing.

24. The Three Musketeers?

Friendship politics are complicated, especially between a trio. The loyal lady in the center of this picture didn’t want to offend either of her friends, and so when the gal pal on the left expressed distress over the direction she looked when the picture was snapped, she turned  to James in the hopes of generating another version.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

In that case, each friend would feel special, or, that’s what she thought. As per usual, James didn’t put up with any pettiness among friends, and took an more unexpected route. Instead of simply turning the middle subject’s head to the other side, he inserted a mirror to reflect the face of the girl on the left, and, perhaps, how silly she’s being. Sometimes we’re the center of the smiles, and sometimes we’re on the side.

25. A Polished Picture

Ah, classic James Fridman, taking everything literally. This guy was suited up and looking sharp, so it was unclear as to why he thought his pic needed polishing. Jamie, always ready to be helpful with some savvy Photoshop skills, was happy to help “Polish” this up for his pal.

photoshop

Twitter/@fjamie013

Edited to be seen wearing a “stroje ludowe,” or traditional national costume of Poland, this dude is sure to have girls falling in love with him left and right. Typically worn only during special occasions – this guy is ready to party at a Polish folk festival. What single lady doesn’t want a man in a fancy vest and flower adorned hat?
