We’re all playing our part as best we can during the COVID-19 crisis. While some of us are helping those around us by staying inside, there are thousands of frontline and essential workers that are still on the job and working harder than ever. We’re so thankful for the sacrifices they’re making. So was this husband of a doctor, who just wanted to make his wife smile and give her a much-needed distraction. How did he do that? A good, old-fashioned pillow fort.
Coziness Saves the Day
Imagine enduring a long, grueling shift in full protective gear. It’s pretty much the opposite of a warm and fuzzy experience, right? It makes total sense then that this all-star husband figured that bumping up the comfy cozy vibe in their home would bring some relief. Under his Reddit username, Possible-Bullfrog, he posted a sweet video of the fort and its big reveal to his hardworking wife after she returned from a day on the job.
An Inspired Idea
The sped-up video starts with Possible-Bullfrog vacuuming the space to get it ready for the big project. One of their adorable pups observes curiously throughout as the room is prepped. Soon, the thoughtful husband is dragging in a mattress and adding pillows to maximize coziness. Then, the fort assembly begins.
The construction is where things really start to get creative. Utilizing all types of things from around the house, including a ladder and a coat tree, Possible-Bullfrog manages to craft an impressive roof using bedsheets. Once all of the sheets were tied up and securely hanging, he added a couple of extra touches, like Christmas lights to really amp up the magical feeling of it all.
Nothing More Romantic Than Takeout
Apparently, the adorable pillow fort didn’t feel like enough to set the mood and make his wife feel special. Possible-Bullfrog went even further. In addition to the romantic ambiance he’d created, he ordered her favorite takeout dinner from Indianapolis company ClusterTruck, which specializes in delivering delicious street food. He added a nice bottle of wine.
After writing a cute note for his wife to find when she walked in the door, the final touch was to make sure that their two precious doggos were curled up and ready to snuggle the night away.
The Big Reveal
Luckily for all of us watching from home, Possible-Bullfrog managed to capture the huge smile that immediately spread on his wife’s face when she walked in the door. First spotting the note and then the food and fort, she was clearly pretty surprised and pleased to come home to such a special evening.
She crawls right into the fort to join the cuddle puddle of all her favorite creatures, two and four-legged alike. It looks like an unbelievably snuggly and lovely situation. To top it all off, her husband set up a projector so they could watch something light and cheery while they cozied up. The Office was the perfect choice to take her mind off of the tough situation at work and fully enjoy the relaxing evening he’d planned for her.
Keep It Going
While we may not all be sharing a house with a frontline worker, we can still do our part to alleviate some of the stress they’re experiencing right now. Get creative! If you do half as well as Possible-Bullfrog, you’ll be making a real difference. Looking for more adorable inspiration? These penguins roaming the aquarium are a good place to start.
