The song goes, “I’ll be there for you.” But this time, it’s Jennifer Aniston who’s there for us on social media. The Friends alum has finally created an Instagram account and she has already gained 16 million followers. Aniston “broke the Internet” in October 2019—for all the right reasons. Instagram users couldn’t wait to see her posts and to interact with the beloved actress.

Convincing Her To Join Instagram

For years, cast members of the iconic sitcom Friends had been sharing pictures on Instagram, including Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer. In January 2019, Courteney Cox finally joined Instagram. Since then, Kudrow and Cox have shared selfies of when they would hang out with Aniston.

But like true friends, they have been trying to convince Aniston to join the Instagram party. However, it never seemed to work. Well, it finally happened. On October 15, 2019, Aniston joined Instagram, and her first post is already iconic. It’s a selfie of the full Friends cast reunion, with the caption: “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too.”

No one told us life was going to be this way. Fans were pleasantly shocked at the news, but they weren’t complaining. They enjoyed a picture of the cast together in 2019. Even celebrities chimed in with their excitement. For example, Salma Hayek (@salmahayek) commented, “Welcome to the madness.” Sean Hayes (@seanhayes) posted, “My baby’s all grow’ed up!” Kaitlyn Bristowe (@kaitlynbristowe) asked an important question: “Are you and Ross still together?” Aniston replied, “We’re on a break.”

Reese Witherspoon, Aniston’s costar in the new Apple TV series, The Morning Show (released on November 1, 2019), also commented on the post. She said, “YASSSS!!! Welcome to Insta, Jen!!!” This isn’t the first time the celebrities costarred on a TV show together. True Friends fans will remember that Witherspoon guest-starred on the sitcom as Jill Green, Rachel’s sister.

Literally Breaking The Internet

People joked that Aniston would break the Internet, but they probably didn’t expect it to actually happen. Shortly after creating her official account, her page experienced a major technical glitch. She couldn’t accept new followers. Aniston (and other users) contacted Instagram, who quickly corrected the issue.

Aniston’s first post (of the cast selfie) has been liked more than 14 million times. Within 30 minutes of creating her account, Aniston reportedly gained more than 116,000 followers. She likely holds the record for having the fastest Instagram account to reach more than one million users, a record previously held by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s joint account (created in April 2019).

Perhaps fans have been waiting years and years for the actress to join Instagram. They couldn’t wait to see what she would post. Of course, she didn’t disappoint anyone. Did you really think Aniston wouldn’t entertain us?

All Her Posts

Because her Instagram account is fairly new, Aniston doesn’t have that many posts. However, whatever she posts, it reaches millions of followers. For example, she posted a humorous video in which she smashes her phone in response to when her Instagram account experienced a technical glitch. Fans commented on the video. User @jenmeyerjewelry said, “I can relate to this all too well.” Another user (@bezuidenhout.cindy) said, “This woman is the definition of living her best life.”

In addition, Aniston also shared a “Throwback Thursday” picture, recreating a fashionable look from her childhood. One user (@contemporaryinsane01) commented, “You were beautiful then, you are beautiful now.” It’s hard not to disagree with the fan.

Aniston also posted a picture of herself getting ready for a modeling photo shoot. She wrote, “I’m just a girl…standing with hair and makeup. A stylist. A photographer. A lighting crew, wind machine, props, and a computer…asking you to think I woke up like this.” Fans love her creative posts, and they can’t get enough of them. Keep the fun posts coming, Aniston!
