Formerly Abused Dog Now Living Life of Love, Toys With New Family
JoJo the dog had a horrible past while living with an abusive family who caused him indescribable physical and emotional pain. Already from a young age, this pup couldn’t have imagined how good things would one day get.
“When he was a puppy, JoJo’s ‘family’ had cut his ears off with scissors. We cannot even imagine the excruciating pain that must have caused him,” said Animals R Family founder Nicole Bruck in an interview with The Dodo.
JoJo’s abusive family also left him in a rural dog facility when he was only seven months old and had to endure the terrible conditions of the center for eight years.
According to Bruck, JoJo was “living in a cage in a windowless warehouse. There was no water in his cage, no blanket, no towel, nothing… just the hard ground.”
Fortunately, Bruck’s group was able to rescue JoJo after nine years and while he led a horrific life for many years, it was a relief that JoJo’s spirit was alive and well.
“We rescued him at the age of 9 years. His eight years of harsh prison life did nothing to dent his personality or his charm,” shared Bruck.
In order to find Jojo a permanent and loving home, the rescue group brought the dog to a Best Friends Super Adoption Event in New York City where he was blessed to be adopted by Kevin and Leann Karcher who took pity on JoJo after learning his story.
“When we learned about Jojo’s sad story and realized there was little chance he would be adopted we decided to help,” Kevin told The Dodo. “We wanted to pack as much life and affection in Jojo’s remaining years as possible,” he added. They’ve even lavished him with hundreds of toys, which he absolutely loves.
Kevin gave this advice to those who are planning to adopt a dog: “Which dog is least likely to be rescued? Then do all you can to adopt that dog!”
JoJo is now living a dream life – playing with tons of toys as much as he wants and getting belly rubs from Kevin often.
