Keep Your Electronics Sparkling With These Easy Tips
Our electronic devices can be some of the dirtiest things we come into contact with every day, yet most of us never think to clean them. A few common household items like cotton swabs, microfiber cloths, toothpicks, and rubbing alcohol are all it takes to keep your various gadgets spic & span.
Crystal Clear Earbuds
Keep your earbuds clean and ear wax-free by using a toothbrush (not the one you use to brush your teeth, ew) to gently dislodge any wax. Be sure to hold the earbuds facing down so the wax doesn’t fall inside. Clean the outside with a damp microfiber cloth.
A More Hygenic Mouse
Use your trusty microfiber cloth with a 50/50 dilution of water and either rubbing alcohol or white vinegar to keep your mouse clean and sanitary. Use a cotton swab and/or a toothpick dipped in the same solution to get into the little all the little nooks and crannies.
A Clean Keyboard
Most people’s keyboards end up having all kinds of stuff stuck to and in them. Use some compressed air to blow all the dust out from between the keys, then clean dirty keys with a cotton swab moistened with a 50/50 dilution of water and either rubbing alcohol or white vinegar.
A Sparkling Screen
Monitors and screens can be tricky to clean because pressing too hard on LCD screens can cause pixel burnout. Be sure to use a soft microfiber cloth and never anything like a paper towel, which can leave scratches. A 50/50 mixture of distilled water and white vinegar is your best bet to remove stubborn spots.
Our phones can end up becoming a petri dish of germs if we’re not careful. Resist the urge to use household cleaning or alcohol wipes, as these might scratch your screen over time. Instead, use a microfiber cloth with a 50/50 dilution of water and either rubbing alcohol or white vinegar.
