This Man Went Big For His 100th Birthday With An Exhilarating Skydive
Most people would be scared to death to jump out of a plane, but not this centenarian. He rang in his 100th birthday with an exciting skydiving adventure that he won’t forget!
The Dive Of His Life
Robert “Stu” Williamson came up with some pretty big plans for his centennial birthday. Working with the staff at his retirement community, Horizon House in Seattle, he planned to skydive with a local business. Forty of Stu’s closest family members and friends gathered to encourage him at Skydive Snohomish.
Though Stu was a little hesitant to jump at first, he ultimately did and loved it. In fact, he called the moment vulnerable but thrilling. And he’s already planning to do it again!
Coming For The Record Books
Stu wants to eventually earn the title of the oldest man in the world to parachute jump. Currently, the Guinness Book of World Records shows Bryson William Verdun Hayes of Devon, England, as the title holder at 101 years and 38 days old. “If I live another [year] and two months, I’ll bump him out of his place,” Stu confidently told Inside Edition.
Even though beating the record would be a win, Stu really just loves the feeling he gets from skydiving. He actually made his first dive at 99 years old, an exhilarating moment he just had to do again. It’s all a part of his plan to make the most of his remaining days.
Living Life To The Fullest
As shown by this skydive, Stu wants to enjoy the days he still has left. Though he’s older, he enjoys staying healthy by eating well and working out for 45 minutes at least three times a week. He also credits regular sips of whiskey and a good sense of humor for keeping him around this long.
Stu definitely plans to skydive again but also has some other adventurous activities on his bucket list. Some of those things on the list include riding stunt planes, roller coasters, and a glider. One thing’s for sure: he’s not about to let his age stop him from having a good time.
