Mom Caught Singing To Embarrassed Son On Jumbotron Becomes Viral Sensation Lauded By Kelly Clarkson
At a University of Maryland Basketball game. Mandy Remmell sang and danced her heart out to Kelly Clarkson’s song “Since You’ve Been Gone.” She even made it onto the fan cam. The crowd loved it. Her ten-year-old son…not so much.
Watch The Video
It seems that Remmell’s son Blake was not a fan of her singing, but she barely noticed. She was having the time of her life, using her phone as a microphone and generally rocking out while he cringed in the corner of his seat.

Blake knew better than to try to ask his mom to stop. Trying to pretend it wasn’t happening didn’t work either. What could he do? He slouched and hid in his hoodie. He grimaced. Nothing helped. The more embarrassed he got, the more his mom sang — and it all got captured on camera.
Kelly Clarkson And Thousands Of Online Fans Approve
Fans loved every moment of the dance. When the team’s Twitter feed posted the video it quickly went viral with more than 150,000 views. Kelly Clarkson approved too, with the words “This is my kind of mama,” and quite a few emojis.
One thing everyone agreed on: it’s a mom’s job to embarrass their kids, and this mom wildly succeeded at the task. In interviews about the experience, Remmell said that she didn’t think she could sing or dance but loved to Lip Synch. She also loves Kelly Clarkson and can’t help but sing along to her songs. She was just having fun even if her son was, in her words, “100 percent horrified.”
UMD Basketball Is A Fan Too
The moment was broadcast everywhere, from social media and worldwide television shows to USA Today. The University of Maryland was a fan too.
Are the Remmells likely to return to another UMD Basketball game? Possibly. Blake plays basketball and is a fan of the Terrapins. He may even want to try out for the team someday. But he’ll have to live down his embarrassment first.
