Nine Year Old Raises Nearly $6,000 In Two Hours To Help His Baby Brother

Andrew Emery from South Carolina found out his six-month-old brother had a rare and terminal disease called Krabbe Disease. He knew the medical bills to take care of his brother, Dylan, were high and he wanted to help, so he came up with a lucrative plan.

A Time For Lemonade

It’s hot in South Carolina this time of year and nine-year-old Dylan thought of the perfect plan to raise money to help with his brother’s medical bills. What better on a hot day than a lemonade stand? So, he told his parents and he got to work.

They had t-shirts made to advertise the venture and to sell, then set up Andrew’s lemonade stand on Memorial Day weekend.

Word Travels Fast

Thanks to Facebook, word got around about Andrew’s ambitious goal. In 2 hours, he made almost $6,000! Andrew was quoted as saying, “I’m gonna spend it on doctor’s bills and stuff, and buy him a teddy bear too. I just want to help Dylan. He’s my baby brother.”

He set up along the highway, so he would get a lot of traffic, and it worked. People stopped from all over to buy t-shirts and lemonade to support this amazing big brother.

The Fight Wages On

Dylan’s fight with Krabbe Disease isn’t over and neither is the determination of his entire family. In addition to the successful lemonade stand venture carried out by Andrew, their parents are holding a barbecue in early June to gather family, friends and community support.
