Photographer Shows Mom The Adorable Thing Her Corgi Was Doing As She Gave Birth
Dogs are supposed to be man’s best friend, but they may be even closer to family. Spending years alongside this young family, their Corgi named Ranger was by his mom Brooke’s side every step of the way for her pregnancy and giving birth. The photographs of the family were taken by Kristin Waner who is based in Odessa, Texas. She captured the birth of the family’s first two children and had arrived to photograph the birth of their third.
Before the birth
Ranger went unnoticed for the birth itself and it wasn’t until when Kristin was editing the photos that she noticed the role that he played. He stayed by her side and offered a comforting presence for the entire ordeal.
“From the moment I walked in the door, Ranger was so excited. You could tell he knew something was happening. He quickly came in to greet me, then headed right back to the bedroom to be with Brooke as she labored,” Kristin wrote for Bored Panda.
The birth experience
Ranger served as a calming presence for Brooke by giving her kisses and nose nudges. He sat by her and always made sure that she was okay.
“It was a beautiful thing to watch – the bond between mom and baby and man’s best friend. This made me take notice. It’s not something you see every day. Every moment I saw him interacting with Brooke I tried to take as many pictures as possible. I knew this was special,” Kristin wrote.
The baby arrives
Brooke’s husband Steve helped her ride out the contractions until Berkeley was born. Ranger was overjoyed and was excited to meet his new sister! He watched her get weighed and get her first outfit changed.
Ranger was very proud of the work Brooke did and delighted to meet Berkeley.
