Savvy Pooch Adorably Bring Leaves To ‘Pay’ For Treats Every Day
One smart dog figured out how they could pay for goods using their own personal “Greenbacks.” Negro, a sweet four-legged resident of Columbia, pays for his favorite treats with a found leaf every day. Not only is this dog incredibly bright, but his loyal patronage is a welcome sight.
Beloved Mascot Hound
Negro is an unmistakable presence on the campus of the Diversified Technical Educational Institute of Monterrey Casanare in Columbia. Over the five years that Negro called the campus his home, the amicable black Lab has stepped into the role of campus guardian while students go to their studies. Faculty at the Institute would make sure that Negro received enough adequate food, water, and a safe place to sleep. In return, the friendly dog is welcomed around the campus, and even at the local store.
On campus, students would enjoy purchasing goodies to munch on when taking a break from their studies. It wasn’t long before Negro was getting students to buy him treats, as the pooch loved cookies. After spending enough time observing the students purchasing items from the campus store, Negro decided he could do some shopping. Angela Garcia Bernal, a teacher at the school, stated about the canine, “Then one day, spontaneous, he showed up with a leaf in his mouth, wagging his tail and letting it be known that he wanted a cookie.” Once Negro’s green money was accepted, he would stop at the campus store regularly for his daily cookie.
A Delightful Canine
Negro’s intelligence stunned the faculty on campus and the attendants at the store. Bernal responded, “When you first see it, you almost want to cry.” An attendant at the campus store, Gladys Barreto said, “He always pays with a leaf. It is his daily purchase.” Online Bored Panda, user Cherie O. responded to Negro’s story, “So smart. I would sell him a treat. Sweetie pie.” Another user on Bored Panda, Mo BC commented, “What a clever Pup :)”
Everyone on the campus loves Negro and seeing him enjoy his daily treat of a cookie or two. Faculty have made sure that Negro’s treats are dog-safe, and that he maintains his handsome figure by limiting his purchases.
