Tennessee State Trooper Proves That Kindness Is Alive And Well
On a cooler-than-usual March morning in Tennessee, a woman was pulled over by a state trooper for a traffic and safety violation. The two boys in the backseat of her car weren’t in car seats. While she fully expected to get a ticket, that’s not what happened. He asked for an explanation and her phone number instead.
A state trooper’s job in the highway patrol is to keep the roads safe for us. They drive up and down the highways and side roads, looking for anyone who’s not abiding by the rules of the road.
Their job helps to ensure the safety of all drivers. When Officer Tidwell pulled the woman over on that Wednesday morning, his priority was their safety. Instead of being a stickler for the rules, however, he listened to her story.
She told him that she just picked up her foster sons the night before and they had nothing but the clothes on their backs. She was taking them out that morning to get them what they needed, including car seats.
Instead of giving her a ticket, he showed her understanding and kindness. He was nice to the little boys and asked the woman if he could have her phone number to check on them.
A few days later, Officer Tidwell’s wife called the woman to see how the boys were doing and asked if they would meet her and the officer in a town nearby. They had a surprise for the boys.
When she arrived at their meeting place, Officer and Mrs. Tidwell emerged from their car with gifts in hand. They bought all kinds of presents for the three boys for no other reason than kindness. Their thoughtfulness has made a lasting impression on the boys and shown them there are good people in the world, and that police officers are there to help the public.
