The Most Unique, Elaborate McDonald’s Locations Across The World

Updated

on

McDonald’s has dominated the fast-food industry since it opened on April 15, 1955, in San Bernardino, California. Since then, McDonald’s has opened over 35,000 restaurants across the globe. Whether you go for a Happy Meal, a Big Mac, or a McFlurry, McDonald’s has always been a quick, inexpensive food chain for consumers.

Since 1955, there have been several peculiar, unique McDonald’s chains. Some restaurants don’t even look like your typical McDonald’s with the golden arches. Instead, the designs take it up a notch. Check out these super cool McDonald’s locations that don’t even feel like you’re at a fast-food restaurant. You’ll want to visit these locations as soon as possible.

Resembling A Retirement Home

McDonald’s tends to be popular for senior citizens, so it makes sense that some chain locations would resemble the places that are most familiar to elderly customers. A McDonald’s location in Freeport, Maine looks just like a home. According to Twitter user @katrinakanova, the restaurant “looks like a funeral home (on the) outside and a retirement home (on the) inside.”

It looks like a funeral home outside and a retirement home inside <a href=”https://t.co/cOeJfNnk4b”>pic.twitter.com/cOeJfNnk4b</a></p>&mdash; sloppy wizard (@katrinkanova) <a href=”https://twitter.com/katrinkanova/status/1258918155004624898?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>May 9, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src=”https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>

The exterior resembles a typical two-story New England home. It has several windows and even a formal front door. Once you step inside the restaurant, it’s like you’re walking into a retirement home with a fireplace, formal dining room tables and chairs, and a front “check-in” desk where you order your food. Are you visiting a McDonald’s or visiting your grandparents? It’s hard to tell the difference.

Dining Inside A Mansion

When you think of McDonald’s, you definitely don’t think of a mansion. You typically go to McDonald’s to order your cheeseburger and fries and get out of there as fast you can. But the Hyde Park, New York location will want you to enjoy your meal.

Appropriately called the Denton House, the chain restaurant is inside a remodeled mansion dating back to 1795. The two-story building has a front porch, a wrap-around back patio, and a balcony. Inside, customers (or we should call them guests at this mansion) will find formal dining booths, staircases, wooden beams, and more. You might want to dress up if you’re eating at this McDonald’s.

Taking Flight

Up, up and away! A McDonald’s chain in Taupo, New Zealand is designed to look like an airplane. The exterior looks like a passenger airplane, and it’s just as cool inside. You climb a flight of stairs to the dining area that makes you feel like you just boarded an airplane or a private jet.

The chairs look like passenger seats. The chain was voted as the world’s coolest McDonald’s. You’re not able to eat McDonald’s on a real airplane, but this is the closest thing you can get to eating a Big Mac up off the ground.

A Flying Saucer

There are several unique McDonald’s designs, but the location in Roswell, New Mexico is definitely out of this world. Roswell is known as the hot spot for potential alien sightings. The town has had its fair share of UFO sightings since the first supposed alien crash in 1947.

The McDonald’s in Roswell has a UFO-shaped exterior complete with fluorescent lights. The chain also has flying rockets with Ronald McDonalds in the playroom. If you visit Roswell to spot some aliens, you’ll definitely want to stop at this McDonald’s for a quick lunch.

The Ultimate McDonald’s

If you think McDonald’s only serves hamburgers, chicken nuggets, and fries, you haven’t been to the location in Orlando, Florida. Known as “the world’s largest entertainment McDonald’s,” the chain is the ultimate McDonald’s with a variety of fun things for everyone to enjoy. It stands 40 feet tall and the upstairs has an arcade, while the downstairs portion has a fish aquarium. In addition, there’s a 22-foot-tall play structure and a 30-foot-tall Ronald McDonald.

The restaurant also has a unique serving menu, complete with omelets, waffles, wraps, pizza, and different kinds of pasta. You don’t just eat Big Macs at this location. There’s more to explore, and you’ll want to take your time at this branch. It’s not your typical fast-food restaurant.
