This Video Of ‘Harry The Hippo’ Is Going Viral For Most Hilarious Reason

People love any video involving animals. They make us laugh or sometimes cry, but the most popular viral videos are usually about animals. Social media users can’t get enough of them, especially this viral video from 2011 of a hippo at a zoo. What was he doing that was so funny? He’s passing gas. And it’s as entertaining as it sounds, literally.

Meet Harry The Hippo

If farting were an Olympic sport, Harry the Hippo would win the gold medal. People generally find farts humorous, but no one expected this hippo to “break wind” quite this elaborately. In the video below, you’ll see Harry the Hippo slowly emerge from the water. As he climbs up to dry land, he pauses and lets loose one of the longest and loudest farts you’ve ever heard.

People couldn’t help but laugh at the natural bodily function for both humans and animals. But they didn’t stop there. The video was uploaded to YouTube (by user curiositytube) in December 2011, so it’s been around for seven years. The video has recently resurfaced on social media and now it has been viewed by nearly 30 million Internet users. Their commentary is hilarious in of itself.

Talking About ‘The Fart’

Harry the Hippo, now referred to as “Harry the Farting Hippo,” has become an Internet sensation. The video of his gigantic fart keeps spreading on social media. Several YouTube users commented on the hilarity of the video. For example, one user (Tony Tom) said the fart “sounds like a chain saw cutting down a tree.” Another user (ToasterBuster 123) said this happens to him “after eating two Chipotle’s with chili.”

The video also spread on Twitter. One user (@Artmanwilly) commented, “What can be more elevating than watching Harry the Farting Hippo first thing in the morning?” People love the well-timed fart, so it’ll continue to spread on social media. The Internet can be a peculiar place, but at least people bond over their love for hilarious videos.
