While everyone eventually passes away, not everyone gets the chance to do it more than once. Only a small percentage of people experience what is known as near-death experiences (NDE) during which they are miraculously brought back from the other side. Although reviving someone who has passed is a miracle in and of itself, this rescued Phoenix mom took luck to a whole different level. After suffering a health scare and being pronounced dead for 27 minutes, Tina Hines sprung back to life, scrawling down a message that would be life-changing for both Tina and those surrounding her.
A Terrifying Collapse
Tina Hines is a supermom of four, a devoted wife, and one of the incredible people who have experienced an NDE. In February of 2018, Tina and her husband, Brian, were rearing up to go on a hike when Tina suddenly collapsed to the ground. Her face turned purple and her eyes rolled back in her head. Brian, knowing that Tina was as healthy as a horse, immediately called 9-1-1. He started to perform C.P.R., successfully reviving her heart, yet it stopped a second time. By the time paramedics got her to the hospital, Tina had been revived a stunning six times by both C.P.R. and defibrillation. It total, Tina had died for a total of 27 minutes. Thankfully, despite her sudden and terrifying symptoms, they were able to keep Tina’s heart pumping. The fact that she managed to survive such an ordeal speaks volumes, yet Tina’s story of hope didn’t end with her survival. Instead, her inspirational return from the other side was what made Tina’s revival so remarkable.
Tina’s Stunning Message
After waking up in the hospital, Tina discovered that she was intubated and couldn’t speak. However, that wouldn’t stop her from frantically delivering a message to her family. She was able to get ahold of a pen and a journal from one of her children, and, in child-like handwriting, Tina wrote two, little words: “It’s real.” Those in the room begged the magic question, “What’s real?” Tina supposedly nodded up to Heaven with tears in her eyes. Once her intubation was out, she was able to explain more about where she had been while she was unconscious. She described the Heaven that she saw as being vibrant, colorful, and real. She believed that she witnessed Jesus outside of a set of black gates, being illuminated by a warm, yellow light. The stunning recount of her NDE left her family in awe. One of her nieces honored her survival story with a pretty incredible gesture… and the permanent reminder of her aunt’s experience went viral.
Spreading Her Miracle
Tattoos are an amazing way to signify important events in an individual’s life. Tina’s niece, Maddie Johnson, decided to get Tina’s chilling words upon waking tattooed on her arm, down to the crooked handwriting. She shared an image of her sentimental ink on her Instagram account, @maddiejohnson, recounting the story of Tina’s NDE that left her and her family stunned.
“She was put on a defibrillator and after miraculously waking up the first thing she did, unable to speak because she was intubated, was ask for a pen and in my cousin’s journal wrote ‘it’s real’. The people in the room asked ‘what’s real?’ and she responded by pointing up to heaven with tears in her eyes,” Maddie shared. “Her story is too real not to share and has given me a stronger confidence in a faith that so often goes unseen.”
Maddie got a permanent reminder of her aunt’s experience, yet she wasn’t the only one who found it breathtaking. After sharing the story, over 26,000 people liked her tattoo on Instagram, sharing encouraging words of comfort, celebration, and faith. Even Tina replied to Maddie’s ink on Facebook, hinting that she would invest in a similar tattoo in the future. Although the world is filled with hundreds of religions with different ideologies, Tina’s cry of “it’s real” has served as an inspiration to people searching for peace about what follows life.
